Congrats on the reliability and the 20th overall.
I run a 9mm specific buffer. After I greased the bottom of the BCG and used more CLP than usual, the carbine ran fine with the two new magazines. The two old Colt mags still acted wacky, I'm thinking there's a problem with the feed lips on them. Looks like I'm going to have to pick up a few more magazines, I've got too much invested in PCC now to just drop the platform.
On a side note, I got 20th overall, and got 100% on the fifth stage. So weird seeing my name at the top of a list!
It's hard to find the Colt mags at reasonable prices, but no one wants to order Metalforms (which are considerably cheaper but the same manufacturer). I found Colt 32 rounders for $60 each. Sheesh!
The hi point carbine I have has never been cleaned, and hasn't stopped running either. Ill never clean any of the 3 hi point's I own, I want to see how long they will keep running without any cleaning.
As for clean burning / less fouling... I have started using Winc. SuperClean 9mm... it is shocking how much cleaner this ammo shoots.
So maybe a change in ammo will help... if the cases are clean inside after firing, then consider it to be reasonably clean burning... I have seen some filthy cases and some clean... so it is worth a look.
I've ordered 250 rounds of the 90g zinc core. It runs a little faster than I'd like, but I'm curious about the clean burning claims. Winchester also has a WinClean 9mm in 147g, but it's subsonic and I'm not sure it would cycle properly. I'm ordering a box of 20 though just to try it.
Thanks for all the feedback.
I don't want to seem like a defeatist, but if I was having as many mag problems as you seem to be having, I'd definitely be considering a different platform. If you're shooting steel seriously with a PCC, I feel like an MPX would be the ticket, as the operating system isn't straight-blowback and it has more modern magazines.
