Are those 1/4-20 threaded holes at the front of the lower receiver?

Do you have to manually lock down four screws before you're up and running?

Do you need to carry a foot pound torque wrench in your B.O.B.?

Someone should make an AR that breaks in half by just pulling two pins...

Watch the video further down the page. Looks like one lever in front of the ejection port.

That lever doesn't account for the four tapped holes/heli-coils and the four through-holes around the barrel extension that line up with them.

Still curious what they're there for.

I'm not convinced that lever, alone, will secure/contain 50,000 PSI worth of KABOOM.

I looked at some of the other photos and there are clearly relief areas cut into the hand guard for four screws, but none of the photos show any screws installed. It could be that users will have the option of using the screws.

From the video it seems like it requires about 10lbs of force to latch the barrel closed. With that short of a cam that could easily translate into 100lbs of holding force. I'm thinking the bolt is still going to be locked into the breech like normal so pressures from firing won't be translated to the hinge and lock they are more likely to be damaged by someone falling on their rifle or using it as a club.

Still curious like you as to why they are there. The design would look more sleek with that square flange.

Eric talks about them in the video. They are to lock the rifle in the deployed position.
