Friend ordered me some INCEPTOR bullets that are 88 grains. The box shows load data published at inceptorammo.com/load-data specifically: https://www.inceptorammo.com/wp-con...308-88-300-AAC-BLK-88-Grains-SRR-Inceptor.pdf

They only list 3 powders and while i agree/understand the 'do your own load testing' when it comes to reloading... i was wondering if someone had more info on what to start testing WITH.

It seems that most manuals are very similar in charges for most weights. Do we find a burn rate that's the similar and cut under the charge as long as it's not "too small"?

Don't rely on a burn rate chart to start finding alternative powders. Bad idea.

There is tons of reloading data on the Internet. Some is trustworthy, and some isn't. Comparing with known good sources helps in figuring out if the Internet data is good.

88gns is really low for the caliber. There are so many different variables when you start using bullets that light. I would stick with the published stuff until more development comes out down the line.

H110 is a pretty standard powder for 300blk supers. Just don't go below their minimum listed load. H110 does not like lightweight loads and actually does well compressed.

Have you reloaded the 300 BO before?
what will you be running through.
    not trying to be smart...
The powders used most are H110 or 1680
of that choice H110 is listed for that bullet.
Currently use Lehigh Defense 78gr CQ bullet
for that round among other L.D. bullets H110
works on some heavy subs LilGun sounds like some load workups and
    development.

great feedback, no feelings hurt by questions/feedback.

I've reloaded some (500-600 rounds) for 300blk but most were 150gr or glorious 110gr using lil gun or 1680 for the most part. 88 is stupid light plinking rounds for engaging steel at closer than normal range. You have to keep the velocity down but need it to cycle too. i'm not looking for "sub moa loads" as that defeats the purpose of this bullet, though it would be nice to have both.

I as hoping to find something for a powder i already have, so i dont need to get a pound of another powder i wont likely keep on hand. Most of my reloading is 300 win mag, 223 or pistol rounds.

“I’m looking for a powder I already have” is the bane of reloaders. If one powder was good for everything, there would only be one powder.

ya.. i've come to the conclusion that there's no SINGLE powder (except Unique) that's good for darn near everything. I've stuck w/ 3031, 4064, 4350 and unique for years. Then 1680 and lil gun came into the picture.. now another one.

Grrrr small price to pay for the fredom to have more than one i guess ya?

IIRC Lehigh Defense listed some loads using powders not seen in books. Good luck and remember to post up some findings.

yes sir they do, used their data to start.
tried the lite bullets in 9mm, 45ACP, 300 BO, 308
some others. their bullets ain't cheap. Nor are the
    Barnes TAC-XP 160gr for 45 or the 9mm bullets.
and most are not the 100 count boxes

the 88gr mentioned is a Frangible
    lead-free injection-molded copper-polymer projectiles

Lehigh's 78gr.CQ works rather well expands nicely..;)

THIS looks promising. They list H110 w/in 2gr of lil gun, which i have. it's also much closer to the 88 gr bullet of the other manufacture. time to strip off optics and "extras", put the gun in a vice.. add a string.. and do some testing!

Or, go buy Quick Load and quit guessing.

Ive been thinking about buying quickload but always seem to have more impotent uses for $160. However after 2yrs of reloading Im guessing I might have saved myself the $160 had I just done it when I first started.

interesting but workable... use a Led Sled or Tipton Gun Vise bolt to down
to a board, clamp it to a table have at it. Handgun wise Ransom rest is
awesome for load development, accuracy testing as well as testing that
    1911 you just built.;)

i have thought about buying quick load also but.. this is the first time i've ever considered doing a load beyond the listings of 2+ books or manufacture publications. Then again.. "QuickLoad" is still cheeper than a new upper and potentially lower.... perhaps consider it a piece of mind purchase...
