My 18 year old got his first deer first time in the stand this year. He paid his dues last 2 years going out with me .

Congrats to your boy! Those plastic sleds are the best thing going when you're hauling a deer out by hand.

My daughter missed a nice 8 point buck this morning, The rack is fairly unique and I believe it was the one she passed up on last year on the youth hunt. It was walking broadside and wouldn't stop about 40 yards out. I could find no blood and I hope she missed it clean and didn't gut shot it. Sucks it has some mass to it.

Here's what I did today with one of my "ghost guns". Heart/lung shot on a 9 pointer with some character.

Didn’t see anything worth shooting this morning. Hopefully I bag one tonight. I’m taking my 91/30 PU Sniper with me so maybe one of these fascist deer will catch a bullet later.

    Nice deer, AO Bush!
Dan - just pretend the deer are Germans ;)

I passed on a 5pt this AM - it was the only deer I saw. Going back out at 2pm and looking for a "keeper"

Sorry for the lack of deer & gun pics in the woods, my phone camera is broken.

This 6 point came in this morning. The rack isnt much but its body was HUGE, lots of meat for the freezer.

The 6.8 SPC did its job and turned the inside of the deer to jelly.

ETA: i'm going to try my hand at a DIY Euro mount

Saw about half dozen does this am. Shot a nice one that was 105 lbs dressed. First ever deer I got on rifle opening day. Very happy since the freezer was empty. Interestingly enough she was still lactating. Is that usual?

Shot this guy about 6:30 this morning. He's either a scrawny 3.5yo(I hope) or a real nice 2.5yo(in which case, I screwed up royal). He's as big as he's ever gonna get though.

Most have weened their babies by now but still have milk. not unusual.

nice! looks like a 3.5yr old If that was a 2.5yr old he would have been a beast at 3.5. Could just be rutting and lost some mass/fat.

I'd go with a 3.5 due to the head to ear ratio. A little tough to tell with that picture, but I'll go with 3.5.

    BTW, great Karma!

Saw an 8 pointer I hadn't seen in 3 weeks. He's still a year or two away from being a good deer. Then had 3 does come in who I hadn't seen in daylight in around 5 weeks. Orange Army was out in force and pushing them my way I guess. Just waiting on the right one....
