So i just bought my first can and now get to wait some 6+ months to use it...

Recommendations please for a new barrel (threaded for suppressor) to replace the heavy barrel (in hogue overmolded stock) i currently have. I'd like it to be as accurate as possible of course. Don't really care about weight or length, mostly used in backyard for squirrels and fun. Is there an ideal length or range of lengths taking into account accuracy, trajectory and noise suppression? Brand or brands and models to consider, to avoid? thanks!

Whistle pig Acculite 16.5 inch fluted and threaded barrel. They run about $200 and are light weight, threaded, super accurate. I liked the barrel so much on my 10/22 I bought one for my CZ455. I originally had a green mountain bull barrel and the Acculite dropped 2 lbs off my 10/22, it handles better now too. I run a spectre II and it will cycle any sub sonic load I have put through it and is super quiet. The bolt moving and the bullet hitting the target is all you hear. Volquartzen makes nice barrels too but I don't own one.

Kidd, Volquartsen, Federson may also be worth looking at along with above. Kidd has a 1/2" at 50yd guarantee on most barrels.

I was looking at WP and Kidd lightweight barrels. Ended up with Kidd more so because I was already ordering other parts from them at the time. Many good choices out there.

    W/out a doubt, best bang for buck - Stocky's barrel. https://www.stockysstocks.com/barrels/rimfire.html

Used it on my 10/22 I'd built for Appleseed, and won't hesitate recommending them to others. LOVES Federal Automatch.

**That 25 yard target was shot w/out bipod, sling, or rest of any kind.

length recommendation also please. i have a 20" bull on there and that feels good. zero 'can' experience. if i like the 20" without a can, what length with a can, let's say 5"? it's the dead air armament .22 mask hd.

i'm guessing a can weighs way less, inch per inch, than a bull barrel, so maybe for the same weight/feel i go down 3" in barrel, add the 5" can, and it feels the same? or with the can at only 6.6oz, do i stick with a ~20" barrel and it's not that noticeable?

The 16.5" with one of Mdeng's .22 cans, felt like there was nothing on the muzzle.

    I will say the 16.5" .920 isn't a lightweight.

Eabco has good stuff and fair pricing. Email list gets you discount codes for barrel savings and free shipping pretty frequently.

There are lots of internet discussions on .22LR barrel length, many state that over 16 to 18 inches doesn't buy you any advantages.

Kidd though if you've got the funds. http://www.coolguyguns.com/
His non-barrel accessories are top notch and highly recommended too.

I use a tactical solutions barrel and love it. Took a fox at 30 yards with the ruger 14 mins before season ended this past season.

I have a TacSol barrel too and it works fine for me. Everything I read though says the Kidd is superior but I have no experience with their barrels.

so with current 20" unthreaded barrel, and then adding a 5" can to the equation, does something around 16.5" for the new barrel make sense, that gets me to 21"? or do i want longer or shorter overall for some reason (noise reduction, accuracy, flatness/trajectory)?

The 16.5" was just about ideal for me. Still had plenty of velocity and range for 100/200 yards. And with Mdeng's .22 can on the muzzle, the sound of brass hitting my driveway was louder than the action or shots downrange.
