Many years ago my stuff was actually stolen out the back of my SUV when someone busted the glass. Who the hell steals a bow and arrow set??!??

But I did find this funny.

I would post a picture of my PSE Nova, but, I don't know if you'll allow Retro Porn.

My son shoots my PSE Nova, great bows, but the cable system is a bit unique.

An Indian Archery 50 pound recurve and a United States Archery Company Texan, 60 pounds.

A PSE Nova, 60 pounds, still reliable and easy to shoot.

A Bear Whitetail Hunter 70 pounds, old, inexpensive and reliable.

Not pictured, a PSE Strato Flight Express that I bought new over 20 years ago that I still use and an AMF recurve.

I have no complaints with my old PSE and have never found a reason yet to buy a new bow. I have changed the string on it and I did upgrade from the cheap plastic sight that was on it and I also installed a W/B That W/B is the greatest thing LOL I kept leaning my bow sideways and the damned arrow would come off the finger rest, I said, "you've gotta go"

I shot aluminum 2117's for years and just over the past few years I've been shooting Carbon 400's and I know one thing those Carbon arrows are really noisy on a Whisker Biscuits bristles. However, my PSE is an old bow that still kills Deer just fine. It's a little better than my Fathers old Darton compound that's about 30 years old and it still kills Deer too.

I have shot some really expensive bows, from Mathews to Parker and a few other $500.00+ Bows and I'll be honest with you I am not impressed by the bows themselves, but, I do like the higher let-offs and the shorter more compact laid-back limb designs. As far as the bows being more accurate... not a chance. A bow is only as accurate as the shooter. The Bow is not going to make you a better Archer.

Can a Mathews, for example, shoot more accurately at a further distance than my old PSE ? Yep, but, the question is, Is the shooter skilled enough to do it ? Most likely not. I know there's a majority of guys out here who buy a $1000.00 Bow and won't shoot past 10 yards. It's like buying a $3000.00 rifle to shoot at 50 yards because they lack skill and practice.

    lol

A fine example was a few years ago a 3-D target competition that allowed any local Archer to register and enter over the age of 18. There were guys walking around dressed to the 9's, with all sorts of patches sewn to their shirts like walking billboards, and had Bow's that probably could have qualified for a great deal of insurance coverage.

The most fascinating repeat offense of the entire evening were the guys who could nail a close 10 and 15 yard target but missed on 20 to 40 yard targets, and about 2 ever hit the 60 yard target. There were a few guys who openly made the comment along the lines of, "Man I ain't never shot an arrow that far before" or "dang I didn't know they had targets so far out". I guess they thought a competition was 10 guys lined up in front of 10 targets at the same distance... clueless.

These were guys walking around with, what at the time, were the top names in expensive Bow's. I'm not a pro Bow Hunter by any means and rarely do I ever have the opportunity to shoot a Deer at more than 10 yards, in most cases it's only 5 maybe 10, but, you'd think a man who owns a Bow that costs that much would be practicing his abilities a little more instead of than just owning a Bow that can do what it was designed to do. I know I can kill a Deer at 25 yards because I shoot at those distances often with my old ragged little bow. Seeing this competition makes you appreciate your practice time.

I guess the difference is, when I get in to a conversation about Bows and Bow Hunting, I'm not the one stepping up to spew how much I paid for it and what name is on it. I simply talk about the Deer I got my Bow. I've been conversations with a few fella's that talked so much about the Bow I never did hear what kind of Deer they shot with it. I guess I'm not a "keep up with the Jone's" kind of guy, but, I kill Deer every year just as well.

I like that bow rack! Where did you get it?
    Thanks,
I made it. My daughter and I had some father/daughter time in the garage. It took a couple hours and was really easy. I figured out how tall I wanted it, to hold our bows, cut the boards (1/2" maple), stained and sealed them. Then I shot them in with a finish nailer, drilled four holes for the 3/8" dowels to hold the bows.
