This question may sound weird but I gotta ask it:

With a deer's stomach being damn big etc. why are it's turds so small?

Just seems strange to mer.

Deer have four stomachs. Ruminant.

So the poop pellets are being formed by a very small area.

And their intestine is only 5/8ths of an inch or so in diameter.

Their digestive tract reabsorbs lots of water in the intestines. This causes formation of rather dry pellets. This is similar to goats. Cows do not do this so they ptroduce large wet "pies". All three are ruminants - four compartments.

Always wondered about that myself. I've always attributed it to male vs female kinda thing. They're just different critters. :shrug:

The poop is pellets because they regurgitate and chew their cud like a cow. If it's a turd it just means the pellets are squished together. I have shot does that produced "turds". I don't think it's a buck vs doe thing, I think it's a function of what they eat (e.g. browse vs acorns). Bucks tends to stake out the higher quality food (acorns) at least in my experience. Bigger deer, bigger poop. Love to see it, it means dinner is nearby.

Couple of years ago a buck committed suicide on the front of my truck. Squirted a shitload of pellets all over the hood and windshield. :lol2:
