My naughty 9mm upper has a flash suppressor with a hole that is just wide enough to get a bullet through. It looks like black mountains are growing from the fins. I figure that since I'm pushing the stuck bullet out, I may as well clean out the suppressor. Any recommendations on what to use?

I might not know what I'm talking about, but if it's just a flash hider like the A2 on an AR15 couldn't you just run a drill bit through it ?

The best stuff I have found for cleaning flash suppressors is Shooters Choice lead remover. I drop them into the bottle and shake it up every day for a few days. After about a week, they come out clean.

Realize, that FS is now the 'crown' of the muzzle. Drilling, scraping, even an uneven cleaning could result in changing/diminishing a bullet's flight/accuracy. It's replaceable for a reason.

Unfortunately, I no longer have a vise to perform removal operations. I'll probably end up replacing it with a brake, but I do need to find a way to clean it out without taking them off.

    Get something like this: https://www.amazon.com/IPA-8080-Sta...rd_wg=N7TXM&psc=1&refRID=7TEVHXPVXXC368D2JAJK

Remove the muzzle device and put it in a vice or clamp it to the edge of a table and go to town with the drill and brush. Once you get the majority of the junk out, it may help to soak it in some solvent and clean it again.

You can can also use a 50/50 mix of vinegar and hydrogen peroxide to eat away at the lead buildup. It works slowly and you have to be careful to test the metal and anodizing to be sure that this acid mix doesn't destroy it. Unfortunately, this is just about the only effective way I've found to clean the small side and top ports of a muzzle break. Wear rubber gloves for all of this.

One other very quick thing to try: Put the device (assuming it's a 1/2 x 28) onto a shorter barreled 223. It may just blow the crap right out.
