Originally from Washington State but I've lived in Montgomery County MD since 2013.

I haven't shot a gun in over 30 years, since I was a kid. Never had formal firearms training or gone to a range. Usually my dad and I would take turns shooting his 22 (I think it was a Browning BL-22) at cans and bottles that we would throw into the ocean from the family boat. Dad thought if you were far enough out at sea it was safe enough to do this. Its wasn't easy to hit a can with a lever action 22 when you, the boat and the cans are moving in different directions.

Anyway, I'm thinking about picking up a gun for home protection. I'm looking forward to learning from the community.

    Nice meeting you guys,

Hi Dave, I was born and raised in Seattle but know most of the Pacific Northwest fairly well (BC, Oregon, Montana). Spent alot of time in Seattle on Capital Hill (undergrad and grad school years) not far from the CHAZ/CHOP zone that you might have seen in the news recently. Interesting times these days.

Wife's family is from NEPA. I have come to like Pennsylvanians.
