Narrowed it down to the stihl ms 250 or echo cs 400 or possibly a husky 440e
Only reason husky is in the running is I can use my employee discount on one. All 3 are in the 300 dollar range.

    Let me here your take

Stihl for me also, though they claim that Husky makes a good saw as well.

I've owned a Stihl 019T limbing saw for probably 20 years now, and their 036 for heavier work for maybe 25. Neither saw owes me a thing.

All 3 are outstanding. Which ever is the least expensive. I have the Echo, and love it. It's very easy to start, and has an excellent warranty.

I love my Stihl. I worked it hard clearing around the lot for my house. I lost track of how many trees I cut down and cut up. Great saw.

Stihl or a husky I have seen a lot of quality control issues in the newer echoes, quite frankly I don't think there even test running them at the factory

Any will do the job. I'd buy the one that fits your needs and is the best dollar value.

    Good Luck!

I really like my Stihl MS 250. I also have an echo string trimmer that's been running for 15 years.

Stick with ethanol-free gas and stabilizer to keep it running right.

I've used Stihl 660, 361, and a one handed 210 or 220 (can't remember) commercially. The 361 will do absolutely anything a normal homeowner would need. They are well built and start on the coldest days. My father has a 20+ year old Echo, but now uses a 361. He likes both, but once I sold him on how a chain brake can save your life he started using the Stihl more often.

btw: this is making me twitching to cut up a tree!

    Where they send me.
    Stihl for me.

Buy the gas in the can unless you are going to burn through a lot fast.
Saves me a ton of pain since I seldom use mine but with the canned gas it starts right up. Std ethanol junk screwed up every weekend I needed to use it before.

I have a Stihl 290 and an Echo CS440. Both saws run perfectly and do not have issues. Either way you will be ok. I prefer the Stihl as my primary saw.

I vote for Stihl. I've no experience with the other two, so I'm biased :D
My ms391 does everything I need it to do...and then some.

So true. Stick with the non ethanol premixed fuel in a can.
I have a stihl farmboss 290. Great saw.
