My first CMP Garand Fixed!
Greetings all. This is a story about my first Garand. I've had two others but because of hard times I had to sell them to keep my kid fed. Just how it's been.
But times have gotten somewhat better and with the death of my father (sadly even though he couldn't stand me) I got a very small estate. Most of it went into house repairs including a 20 year old heat pump that passed away quietly in the early morning hours of July 5th of this year. Without further ado back in late August I sent in for my first CMP Garand and on September 15 she had arrived.
A December of 1944 Springfield Receiver with a 2/43 SA Barrel and as you can see a new stained stock with CMP cartouche. So I tried sealing it and it turned out like this:
It was okay but then I saw a post on (the CMP forum) replicating the reddish hue they had over a period of years so I completely stripped it and re stained it with two different stains. So I did this:
and now she looks like this:
