    White House Task Force Meeting

Fairfax, Va. – The National Rifle Association of America is made up of over 4 million moms and dads, daughters and sons, who are involved in the national conversation about how to prevent a tragedy like Newtown from ever happening again. We attended today's White House meeting to discuss how to keep our children safe and were prepared to have a meaningful conversation about school safety, mental health issues, the marketing of violence to our kids and the collapse of federal prosecutions of violent criminals.

We were disappointed with how little this meeting had to do with keeping our children safe and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment. While claiming that no policy proposals would be “prejudged,” this Task Force spent most of its time on proposed restrictions on lawful firearms owners - honest, taxpaying, hardworking Americans. It is unfortunate that this Administration continues to insist on pushing failed solutions to our nation's most pressing problems. We will not allow law-abiding gun owners to be blamed for the acts of criminals and madmen. Instead, we will now take our commitment and meaningful contributions to members of congress of both parties who are interested in having an honest conversation about what works - and what does not.

    -NRA-
Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America's oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. Four million members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation's leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services. Be sure to follow the NRA on Facebook at www.facebook.com/NationalRifleAssociation and on Twitter @NRA.

It dosen't sound too good for us. I don't think logic or reason is getting much space in this conversation.

I would guess the NRA should be closer to 5 million concidering the amount of time I had to wait on hold to go lifer.

Be thankful they are out there on the front line. All of us need to stand together and fight everything that is currrently going down at the state and national level. Right all your representatives and tell them to uphold the current laws in lieu of passing new ones.

Sorry for the bad grammar in the last post. Don't wait for someone else to protect your freedoms. It's up to each individual to hold their representatives accountable.

Would we honestly have been any better under Romney? He actually did sign an AWB for his state... I think, from a 2A perspective, we faced a tough battle regardless of the president.

Maybe if enough had voted for Romney the coattails would have carried through to the Senate and we would not have Majority Leader Reid and would have both the House as well as the Senate (or a least a larger minority in the Senate). Just a thought.

Trying to convince Obama and Biden that anything other than an AWB will work is like trying to convince a Zombie to not eat the living. Even before he met with the NRA Biden made the comment that "a consensus is coming together about banning assault weapons and high capacity magazines." The only reason they are meeting with pro 2A groups is to try to give us a false sense of security. They are set on what they want to do. We all know that. I comment the NRA for holding strong as well.

Obama administration had a big meeting with business leaders during their first term. According to Bob Woodwards book The Price of Politics the administration seemed to have little to no intrest in what the leaders had to say. It seems that the administration just wants to make it look like they would take input from others.
