Not sure why prior thread was closed, didn't see anything uncivil and this is obviously the most important development for national 2A since Heller and would be the very first replacement of a non-GOP appointed justice by Trump.

Also after the election we are going to an unprecedented storm of gun control passing at state and federal levels and the court will be the only protection. . Biden is well ahead, and this means bedsides the SCOTUS nomination, with the Dems having the White House, House of Reps, and an even chance of taking the Senate (dont forget Kamala Harris will be a player in the Senate if the majority is narrow, on both votes and who gets control of committees).

We already know Roberts will throw the 2A under the bus.

Anyway I am worried on the numbers. We have the two already announced defections, Collins and Murkowski won't support, and the fact that if Mark Kelly (D) wins over Senator McSally (R) in Arizona he can be seated essentially immediately following, instead of in January, since technically McSally current term is based on her election being a special election. There is perhaps no on more beholden and in lockstep with Mike Bloomberg than Kelly. And kelly is averaging about seven points ahead of McSally in polling which nears certainty he will win and a probability he will be seated by the Senate vote on nomination. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2020/senate/az/arizona_senate_mcsally_vs_kelly-6801.html

So if the Dems take away one more GOP senator, Trumps nominee wont make it. And Mitt Romney has gone against Trump on every substantive and contentious issue.
