I wonder, if BAFTE rules bumpstocks are illegal machine guns (oh, brother), I'll be contacted since I sent in a letter. I can rejoice in the disappointment of some BAFTE agent when I tell them I sent in the application to protect my gun oil... :lol2:

So if we send a photo (3D printer copy) of the remains, we should be good, right.....:innocent0 Just thinking out loud...…

Mine was delivered a few days ago. I don't have the response of the receipt of delivery yet but at least that is done. Thanks again to the folks at MSI.

If there is a ban on the sale of BSs would that be considered a 2A infringement? If it gets to a ban on possession would that be a second 2A infringement?

    Depends on who you ask:
    1. Pretty much anyone on MDS:
Yes, if you did't intend to do anything otherwise illegal with it.

    2. SCOTUS:
Don't know, but we'll let you know in the next five or six years.

    3. MGA:
OMG! Gunz! OMG! OMG! OMG! Eww! Eww! Ewwwwwww!

    4. MD AG Frosh:
The fact you asked that question indicates you are clearly dangerously insane, and must not be allowed to legally possess sharp objects, let alone firearms.

Everyone should hold onto those returned letters from the ATF. That's your proof that you "applied" under the grandfather provisions of SB 707. I think it is *GREAT* that the ATF is taking the time and money to send them back to you. They are basically doing something that proves your defense to prosecution under this bump stock law. Kudos to the ATF. They did not have to do that.

Just got my reply today. When I read the response, and saw their date stamps on my original letter, that’s exactly what I thought, esqappellate. I’d like to think they recognized MD has a flawed provision in that statue and at least are acknowledging between the lines that we did what we were asked to do, and providing us written documentation of this, regardless of how stupid the exercise was in reality.

Got my response back this past Saturday. Sent it in around the 29th of September. The returned letter has the typical BATFE stamp on it and associated letter. But hey, I got it.

Still, nothing for me. No response or green card. Did anyone get the green card from USPS?

I'm wondering if ATF can bill the state of Maryland for the time and postage to process these letters. I damn well would if I were running the outfit.

I received this in my email in the Gmail Spam Folder:

    Mr. Naughtybear,

ATF's position regarding Maryland’s new law is posted on our public website in a Special Advisory issued by our Office of Public Affairs. I have included a hyperlink to the advisory for your convenience below.

    https://www.atf.gov/news/pr/maryland-law-restricting-rapid-fire-trigger-activators

I trust this advisory clarifies ATF’s authority and your submission is therefore returned without action. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance by contacting us at (202)648-7190 or FIPB@atf.gov.

    same here

Yeah, I got my email response, but nothing from my mailed application.

I have been salmon fishing in Pulaski, NY since last Thursday and now in northern VT splitting wood for my older uncle so have not checked mail in a few days. I mailed a few weeks ago. Called and they said it was picked up by the BATFE a two weeks ago but nothing in the mail.

Just got my mailed response from the ATF, they were kind enough to send it back with a stamp and a date so that I've got proof of "applying":

I'm covered for another year, so go get 'em MSI!

My ATF response showed up last Wednesday (same as Maswasnos). Almost 3 weeks after my initial mailing.

Tangent, but that's a great fishery. I went on a charter up there with my brothers ten years ago, and we brought home more salmon than we could deal with!
