Friggin guy was a candidate for sheriff!

My solution is to enact a law that requires a gun owner to pay $100 per gun per year into an insurance fund that will reimburse public agencies for the costs of gun violence. According to the The Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, it costs the public $700,000 per gun homicide victim and $100,000 for each person wounded by gun violence.

That it was sourced from the Giffords Law Center and reported by the Baltimore Sun makes its statistics suspect at minimum. It's like trusting the Bloomberg people with the statements they make regarding firearms.

    Humm .

99.999% of legal gun owners don't contribute to violent crime .

The murder and violent crime numbers are substantially driven by the illegal drug trade, in multiple modalities . Everyone who uses or posses illegal drugs is a participant in perpetuating and expanding the drug trade in some way .

So impose a civil fee of $100 per standard dosage ( per joint, per rock, per dime bag, etc ) for anyone discovered in posession or control of illegal CDS . Conviction not necessary , this is just a civil fee , since all the people not involved in the underground drug economy shouldn't have to pay tax money to deal with the aftermath of the violence .

Hey man easy there, we can never know for certain who has not had drugs at any point. Safer to just charge everyone. If you will excuse me on an unrelated note the folks in my office need some Ferrari automobiles so that we can make our meetings on time. Commutes are too long you see, this is strictly necessary for our department to function.

Why can't they enact a law that requires criminals to pay $100 per gun per year into an insurance fund that will reimburse public agencies for the costs of gun violence?

    Uhhhhhh.....no.

Make people who receive State assistance pay back $100 a month once they're off in to fund for people who are coming in new to the system, for job training.

There, I just fixed an existing problem without pestering otherwise (existing) tax paying and law abiding citizens.

If gun violence is that expensive, it makes the option of keeping violent criminals behind bars look much more cost effective. Basically if you keep violent people behind bars until they're 28, it should have a dramatic effect at reducing crime. They should probably see the work the noble proseqi project is doing at compiling a list of crimes committed by repeat offenders before coming after the law abiding.

What a great idea; impose a tax with no plan on what to do with the money. Never mind whether or not it will actually do anything to stop crime. One tenant of liberalism; if you are not happy with the results of your social policy, take it out on gun legitimate gun owners.

The article was penned: Christopher Boardman, Joppa

I don't even have to read the article to know that guy is NUTS. I've read his ramblings before. He used to go by Krist or Christ Boardman. In addition to the usual liberal utopia through taxation approach, he seems to have a real hard on for trains. He wants to "fix" rural Harford County with light rail. He even wants a (taxpayer funded, of course) rail line into Mexico.

I think the democrats let him run for sheriff because they knew no one was going to beat Gahler anyway.

    He's nuts :whack:

If I pay the tax, does that mean I get to shoot one person a year? If I don't shoot anyone, do I get a refund?

So honest people get to pay tax for gang members Liberals refuse to prosecute?

Is that a corollary the the NRA buys all the inner city guns?

LOL This is the guy who said "Cecil rednecks who want to blow people’s heads off with guns" in some back and forth letter to Wayne Norman and Sheriff Gahler during election season.

The real sad part is 32,334 people just voted for him regardless, versus Gahlers 71,141.

Bingo! He had absolutely no LE experience when he was running for Sheriff, although he penned a few articles for some unknown LE Magazines. He once ran for County Council President. He twice ran for Congress. He characterizes a prior position on the Board of the defunct Joppatowne Civic Association as being an “elected public official.” He lives within his own fanatasy world. You would think the Sun would vet whose letters they post and weed out the whackos, but since it suits their own agenda I suppose they figure why bother?

If anyone wants a few laughs Google Christopher Boardman and Dagger to locate a March 19, 2018 letter he submitted explaining why he would make a better Sheriff with absolutely no experience. The comments that follow are priceless!

I think this one is my fave.

Mr. Boardman, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
