I just feel like it's apples and oranges. Driving a car and flying a plane are privileges,...not rights guaranteed by the Constitution.I was addressing the question of excessive regulatory involvement in presumably private medical information, and thought this was a decent example.
How do you feel about people with carry permits being treated for psychological issues? How about examining their posts and media to ascertain mental stability? That's the issue in question, not flying for compensation. How much regulation do you believe ought to be imposed in the name of "public safety"?
If I had to be pinned down and make an affirmative statement on it....
I don't want people under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs doing anything that can affect my well-being or my family's safety or well-being or means of earning a living.
The sticking point comes in when you're dealing with a state like Maryland where they could just arbitrarily decide that caffeine and ginseng are now listed as a good enough reason to deny you.
