My fiancé just got his approved yesterday (via online check). His took 29 calender days, while mine took 20. Not sure why...we submitted the same day. I'm still waiting for the physical card though....but at least we're square in terms of "will they or won't they" approve us. I'm thinking it will be probably another two weeks (at least) before we can take a handgun home though. Sigh.

I sent in my application on May 11, 2015. I have been checking every day several times a day. Today, I looked at the Demographics information and noticed that I did not enter a county. I entered my county and saved the update. Would that prolong my wait? After viewing the checklist I still see that only the Application\License Fee & DHMH are "Completed".

Hope I did not cause this process to take longer.

My brother and I were both fingerprinted on May 16. I filled out the application the same day, he waited until the 17th. He went active this afternoon, June 3. 18 days.

Close. Once you get your HQL, then you get to fill out the paperwork for another background check, then wait 7 days, and then pickup your stuff. Welcome to Marylandistan. :sad20:

Already did the paperwork and paid for my new thing on May 12. Took my HQL number to the store today so that they could submit. Should take around 5 days to get the card so once I get the card and wait a couple days I will be good to go to pick up my s#!7. I could not have lived through this without this thread.

I know what you mean. While I have had my background run, for multiple things, more times than I can remember, it was nerve wracking sitting there waiting for mine to go active, and I only had to wait 3 days!

Congratulations and enjoy your new purchase. You Earned It! :party29:

Ok, got reprinted 30 minutes ago, called MSP they said that worked, now active, card will be printed Monday and in the mail no later than Wednesday. So with luck I can be filling out paperwork next Saturday, and before the end of the month trying out my new handguns at the range.

    HQL

I took the MD CCW class on May 17. I was told I could use this as the training component for the HQL. HQL application and license fee done on May 17. May 18 DHMH completed. June 4 all other checklists completed except for DJS which was not applicable. The status June 5 still shows pending. I have read in other posts they mail out the HQL card while it still shows pending. Is this true? Also, I sent my application in for the CCW on May 17. Anyone here gone through the process and can let me know how long will it be before I hear something and do they list the application on the MSP website like the HQL?

Has anyone noticed that once the process begins, after some areas are checked as "completed" the others change from "unchecked" to "incomplete"? Under the checklist, it states: "Incomplete - Application Section is pending additional information, you will be contacted". Has anyone here been contacted?
