Pretty good deal and no problem with the 5 round mags to MD.

I have this one in stainless and the shorter stout barrel seems more accurate than the longer lighter barrels.
If my wife hadn't started paying attention, I'd probably get another one.

As the former owner of three mini 14s I just don't see why anyone would buy one today. When I was buying them in the 1980s the Mini 14 cost less than half the price of an AR 15. Now most of Ruger's price advantage has eroded and compared to an AR-15 the modification options just are not there.

Not a Ruger basher as I have several 10/22s and to me they are great. Just trying to understand why people still buy Mini 14s.

There's the attraction of owing a semi-auto 5.56 that looks just as good in wood as in tactical.

Agreed. Plus it has that standard rifle stock that feels so damn nice to shoot. A Mini 14 literally fits me perfectly.

At that price point I think a mini-14 is worth it. Any higher than that, and you might as well get an HBAR AR15.
