    Great PICK UP!
I was surprised it lasted as long as it did. I even thought about picking it up for a future Bday present for my son.
These rifles shoot GREAT when they have well maintained bores. Mine shoots better than I can see.
    Congrats

My wife has finally gotten to the point that she just doesn't care anymore. A very long and large, vaguely rifle-sized box arrived the other day (picture thread will come soon) and she said "What's that?" I said "gun parts" and she just shrugged and went about her business.

I wasn't lying per se. They were gun parts, they just happened to be appropriately assembled into the form and function of a nearly complete rifle. :lol2:

As the wife of one of my other long-time C&R friends said, "At least it's not drugs, alcohol, or porn. there are worse 'addictions' out there and at least this one gains value."

It it what I think it is?

Yep! It was diiiiiirrrrrrrty. It's torn down right now for a good non-invasive cleaning. The condition of the butt-plate and top of the barrel and receiver make me think that it sat against a wall in a garage for decades. The wood is actually in fantastic shape other than the surface joint opening a bit at the dovetail on the butt, but there's zero rot and just a tiny heel chip otherwise.

I know the arsenal and SN were hard to see on the auction photos, but I was very pleasantly surprise to find out that it was first-year, and likely first-month of the first-year production for the arsenal. Honestly, I'd be surprised if there were many extant samples with a lower SN for the particular arsenal out there.

I'll post pics for the C&R crew once we meet up so I can get that cocking knob/safety sorted. You still game for York this weekend?

And if anyone browsing here has another nice 1903 that could use a good home, I for one am officially looking - I got SWMBO to feel pity that I passed up on this one, she gave me permission to bring one home if I can find one.

I also did her a couple of favors on some work that was making her crazy, getting a deliverable finished before deadline so she can catch her breath. Sucking up has many forms! 8-)
