Bought a complete upper and all is great except the ejection port cover wont stay closed. the slightest tap to the upper and it pops open.

The detent on the door looks/feels nice and springy.

But the spring itself is strange looking, cant post pics atm but there is a right angle on the short leg of the spring where it rests against the upper.

Is that normal? Never seen an ejection port spring with a right angle in it.

Any other thoughts that may help the cover stay closed?

    Thanks

I have come across this on some uppers and dust covers just do not play well. I have seen some dust covers with a slight bow near the détente so the détente only engages the edge of the ejection port. I have seen the lip of the ejection port be slightly out also causing the detent to fully in engage.

I would look at the upper with BCG removed and see how the dust cover detent is engaging the ejection port.

I'll do that tonight. Worst case scenario I'll order a new cover kit.

Less than $15 not a big deal, just miffed that it came brand new like that.

Depending on what you find you may not. I had to tap min a little to get it to "lock" the anodizing may be a little thick right there a little force engineering can fix it.
