454 Cassull Rental

My brother in law is looking at buying a Ruger super red hawk 454 cassull with the 2.5 inch barrel. Does anybody know somewhere to rent a 454 cassull revolver to get the feel for it or maybe even has this revolver to rent?

He wants this and is dead set on getting one just to have.

Does anybody have one that we could pay for Ammo and some range time and try it out?

Yikes I know what my Cassull feels like out of a lever gun. I never understood the need for the short barrel. Shame you cant talk him into the Redhawk in .45LC hot load capable and suitable for anything short of a Kodiak on this continent.

And you lose a significant amount of energy (the reason to have a Casull over a 45 Colt) because of the short barrel.

Good point. That's why a 4" is one of my field carry guns. Its a lot to handle with hotloads.

Only thing I can offer is a S&W 460 that takes Casull, but it's a 7.5" barrel

The 3 closest ranges with rental guns are The Machinegun Nest, Heritage Training Center, and Hendershot’s in Hagerstown. Have you tried calling them? The Gun Center in Frederick might have one he can look at.

Next closest would be Gilbert’s Gun Range in Rockville, On Target in Severn and Continental in Timonium.

At least he’ll be able to shoot 45 long colt in it if the 454’s are too hot (and expensive) for him.

You can shoot 454 casull and 45 long colt in a .460 S&W. I edited my original post to prevent confusion.
