any good store/range that somebody can recommend in the area?

my wifes friend is looking for handgun. no experience. I suggest her to find a range that rents and try a few.

I know hafer's is just across the border.

I suggest looking up training classes at Peacemaker. They have at least one ladies handgun class per year that has all female instructors. That is the absolute best thing you can do for your significant other. Otherwise the first thing she needs to shoot is a .22. Not anything else. Actually applies to men also. You will be a much better shooter starting with a .22 than any centerfire handgun.
