  • Just did my paperwork for my PAP 92 in 7 days I'll pick it up. I know it's a pistol but I will be making it an SBR on a form 1. It's my 1st SBR since HB 281 and from what I can figure out it has to be 29.5" OAL and can't have a flash suppressor or a suppressor. Is their anything else I need to know? I did a search for the PAP M92 but their was only 1 good thread on them.

Here is mine. I just changed out my muzzle device. I had the Manticore Nighbrake but went with a 4 piece flash hider.

is installing a stock on these once they are SBR'd a DIY job or is it more complicated than that? Looks like a good way to get an ak in MD now. I've seen the ak pistols for about $500 so + $200 to sbr + $? for the stock. Should probably be less than a MD legal arsenal 5.45 right?

You can do it yourself if you're competent with a drill and tap set. I had my local gunsmith do mine as i didn't want to chance it.

Is the Pap the longest barrel/sight radius AK pistol?

2nd question, once its SBR, is it ok to swap out and put a longer (less than 16") barrel and is that feasible?

The CIA C39 has an 11.5'' bbl on it but I don't think you get more sight radius and it was more expensive than the PAP, but they sell an aftermarket dust cover I linked in my 2nd post that has a rail all the way to the rear and you can put a rear sight on it back by the push button if you wish. and I believe as long as you can put it back to it's original config you can put a longer bbl under 16" on it but I would look for the law or code to double check.

I tried to install a hinge adapter myself. I consider myself competent with a drill and tap. My dumb ass assumed the dewalt kit I bought would be a matched set and went ahead and started drilling without checking. The drill bit ended up being two sizes bigger than the tap. Dewalt paid to have a Smith fix the trunnion and install the hinge...

Here's mine. I milled out the trunnion to install an underfolder. I am not by any means a gunsmith. It turned out very nice but I was terrified it was gonna be ruined the whole time. I'd probably order a template for this if I were to do it again.

Man these guns are so sweet! I think it's going to have to go on my long term list though. I have lots of other things i need to save my money for right now other than guns. I wish i could still get a more affordable ak in MD

So I've been thinking about the folding butt stock I want to put on and OAL requirements. according to J&G sales add the PAP is 19.75" AK Skeleton Stock is 9.5" and the ACE FSM Folding Stock Mechanism is .75" for a total OAL of 30" not including the Storm works M92 Tapered Shim . Does anyone have any experience with the ACE products? I was kind of thinking about useing the Stormworks Folding stock mechanism because it locks in the folded position and the open position and the ACE only locks in the open position.
