Join Congressman-Elect Jamie Raskin (D-MD 8th Dist.) researchers, survivors and advocates as they consider actions against gun violence at a symposium Nov. 19 at Temple Sinai.

The "Zwerdling Shabbaton for Social Justice" will include a keynote address by Raskin, a screening of the new documentary "91%", about the 91% of Americans who support universal background checks, and a panel discussion moderated by Chicago Sun-Times Washington Bureau Chief Lynn Sweet.

The discussion will include gun violence survivor and activist Kate Ranta, gun store owner and NRA critic Mike Weisser, Daniel W. Webster, Director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Policy and Research, and Kathleen Krepps, of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.

The program will be followed by an optional dinner. Learn more and RSVP: http://ow.ly/kQxP3065CgL

"Panel discussion" sounds like a bunch of anti talking heads and not much hope for any rational discourse. Do you foresee any opportunities there to win hearts and minds?

Depends on the audience, we had good luck at both MoCo events last year with people actually talking to us and having a discussion after the events and clearing up misinformation.

If we are going to educate the public, what better way than to show up these events and debunk the misinformation provided?

Imagine if we could get some of our Jewish members to go and talk about their feelings on Judaism and guns.
