6.5 Creedmoor...WHAT'S GOING ON? I was at the range today, shooting a handload at 100 yards. Ruger American Predator. Weaver scope. Hornady 140 gr. ELD-M bullet, 43.6 gr. of RL-26.

As expected...groups ranging from decent to excellent. Two five shot groups. Average velocity about 2800 fps. Then I took five shots at 200 yards. Pretty nice group. But it was fully 2 1/2 inches lower than the groups at 100 yards. I expected an inch lower, not 2 1/2 inches. Any ideas?

Bullet drop is time dependent; they fall at the same rate as other objects. Distance only matters as related to time.

Yes, right around the time they are about 11 foot from a medium bore rifle barrel and the propellant energy is no longer working against the heel of the bullet.

The only time they travel upwards is when the angle of the muzzle is elevated or they haven had little rockets attached to them.

Sadly the accuracy and consistency just weren't there. Would be interesting if someone today were to try to make it work but it would likely be too expensive per shot to be worth it
