A couple years ago in a testimony, it was suggested that people shouldn't discuss common sense unless they actually have it.

Forget who that was.... :innocent0....but I know for a fact that whoever said it was looking directly at a penguin when it was said.

I have said that in testimony. When they put "common sense" before anything, that idea usually makes no sense and I believe they are only trying to convince themselves. That is a pet peeve of mine.

I was able to watch much of the video last night, and it was ridiculous how many people she cut off, or did not allow to answer. She cut off the NRA rep, which didn't allow me to respond, to her question about the 2 hypothetical situations. But she was playing to her audience and they were lapping it up.

We should use the term common sense repeatedly when testifying.
When she interrupts someone who is trying to answer her questions could we ask the committee chair if we are allowed to answer the question or is the vice chair going to keep interrupting?

People should tell her she is being rude. That she is not even pretending to be fair.

What if it is a common sense interruption?

You did great on the panel, btw, especially given the short notice.

What would be their reaction if someone reminded them that they work for me and I pay their salaries?

So, in a government that is supposed to have checks and balances, what are the checks on the process? If laws are passed while the legislators almost completely shut out the opposition, what’s a minority to do?

EASY! The checks are deposited in various PACs and distributed to politicians "campaign funds" for further laundering so the pols' check books will balance...

Tbh that's really not a constructive thing to throw out at any government person and doesn't help our cause. While there are many things I'd love to say to the commies that think constitutional rights aren't meant for all citizens, we should probably focus on how to get the lunatics replaced with those who actually support our hobbies.

I am thinking that I will devote any future oral testimony this year towards the topics of common sense and "if it saves just one life". I'll happily mix in others if they are of the same ilk. My time-limited argument about the bill's Cyclomatic Complexity was just too much for them, even though it is true as Kentucky windage on a calm day.

Ah so that was you! I enjoyed what you were trying to do but I really do think another angle might've been more effective. I doubt anyone in the room really understood what you were going at.

Is there a deadline for new bills to be submitted in MD, besides passing before crossover day? I saw VA already hit their submission deadline for the year.
