    resurrecting an old thread....any good places in southern md for crappie fishing?

    I used to love perch jerking when I lived in Mississippi. We threw back fish like this as well because they would be too small! Otherwise, the only place I release crappie is into a skillet full of hot oil.

    The Potomac around your parts is loaded with them. Big ones too. We catch them in the spring on our shad darts fishing at Fletcher's. They scatter in the summer and can be hard to find, but spring and fall they school up and go shallow. Here is a post on a crappie forum:

    I have met Capt. Mike from Indian Head charters at a fishing show. Seems like a good guy with some pictures of some awesome stringers, but I haven't fished with him. If you are serious about catching them in the Potomac, charter a trip to learn the spots and the techniques.
