LOL! This may fall under semantics.
Nick and Melnic are likely speaking location (within Russia) and Abulg is speaking timeframe (Soviet = '22 to '91)

Both correct - depending upon perspective ;)

My first year collecting C&R weapons but I was able to acquire a beautiful P-64, a Star B that was made the same year as me and a Russian Mosin-Nagant M-44 in excellent condition. I spent too much on builds and ammo or I would have gotten a few more items!

I have learned quite a bit in the past year, and I am looking forward to a great 2018.

I spent some time working on some nice projects for a friend, too. Right now I have a Rasheed that I am cleaning up for him. One of only 8,000 ever made.

Where are the izhevsk and Tula plants?

If famous person is from London, they say he is from England.
IF they are from Edinburgh he is British.

Ive been fairly laid back this year. Acquisitions:

    • Enfield Longbranch
    • TNW 1919A4 (I know not C&R but built by TNW on a Saginaw Parts Kit) definitely gets the prize for heaviest!
    • Another Swiss K31 with an ugly billboard for a shooter
    • A Yugo 59/66
    • 1939 Crown N Walther PPK
Forgot about the M38 I bought off Yellowsled.

Definitely a less aggressive buyer than 2016.

I was surprised to see that I had bought nothing in 2017 until November, but I did keep to my yearly average of 4 firearms/yr.
FN 1910 380ACP; CZ50; Nagant revolver dated 1899 - first year Russian production; Hopkins & Allen Safety Police top-break in 32 S&W. H&A was a freebie, about what it's worth.

I had planned to sell my more ordinary Nagant to offset the 1899, but the money fairy came through in time. Thinking back, I realised that of all the guns I've sold off, I regret all but two, so I'm trying not to make that mistake again.

Downsizing the collection. Said goodbye to the CZ 50, 1 Yugo Tokarev and the Beretta Jetfire . Will be reducing further during 2018

Very light year for me too

    - Arisaka Type 99 Concentric Circle marked
    - Sauer 38H rig
    - CZ-27 Deutsche Reichsbahn marked
    - Arisaka Type 38 Jinsen pre-production/for education
    - Original scope for my Arisaka Type 99 sniper

Also picked up some miscellaneous WWII militaria, swords, ordnance, bayonets, etc

Sold off a lot of Spanish stuff (Star/Astra) and duplicates, and upgraded (e.g swapped out) other things...

    some of the incoming:
    J. Kimball .30 cal pistol
    A few P38's from Warren Buxton's collection
Excellent Type 26 limited final production.
Nice Type 94 with 2 matched mags and 4 digit marked parts vice the normal 3 (kind of esoteric but quite unusual).

It was the least active year I've had since I got my C&R. I gifted two mosin nagants and I picked up two rifles to add to the ww2 collection so it was a wash as far as safe space goes. However, I did move to Vermont last summer which means ftf sales of modern stuff too and no license carry. Giving up adding to the collection in the short term to move to be close to family (not to mention to a free state) was worth it.

2017 wasn't a huge year for me but I managed to add several things that I was looking for.

Venezuelan FN-49- Only had it a few months and then traded it off. South American Stuff just doesn't do it for me.

    MAS Mle. 1873

    Swiss M1889

Austro-Hungarian Capture Berdan II- My personal favorite of the year.

    Remington M1903A3

    Matching Arisaka Type 38 Carbine

2 Swiss K31's- Both with Tags, one with a matching bayonet. One I put a Swiss made W+F Diopter on

    DCM Springfield M1 Garand

    FN Mauser Sporter in .30-06

    2 Glocks

    Bulgarian Makarov

    All Matching/Correct Nagoya 7th Series Type 99

Better than normal year for me, but probably the first in 30 yrs with no Enfield additions to the fold.
The only loss, most heartbreaking, was of my longtime avatar Tucker. And the best addition to the household was my new avatar Bucky (in the doghouse tonight for eating my nice warm slippers).

This is the last purchase of the year (photo this time). Wartime grips were cracking, replaced them with a set of postwar two piece wrap arounds. Fun to fit but it looks good.

Nice PPK! Prewar 90 deg safety has been on my short list since getting an early PP years ago. Hard to find with original grips intact.

Thanks. Bought this one for an occasional shooter. It has a twin. Its a shame PPK grips get so brittle as they age. These had the usual backstrap crack and one by the screw hole. Decided to replace them. Took forever to work the postwar Walther grips (Got them for about $40) with a dremel to get enough clearance for the safety disconnect to function. My other one has a very light crack starting as well.

Every time I would wax lyrical about how pretty bakelite is machodoc would step up to remind me how unstable it is as a material and why it disappeared from use. Just look at Colt Woodsman pistol grip panels. Went from wood to Coltwood (bakelite) and back to wood again! Coltwood came and went in less than a decade of roughly 60 yrs of Woodsman production. Makes having a 50's vintage Colt with intact and proper grips a big deal because even NOS Coltwood will probably not fit after sitting for 60 yrs.
