Mission: Foster a Bill Drive AKA "Overwhelm the HJC with Pro 2A Position Papers" and follow up with a major presence on 3/4.

Goal: Everyone pitches in to generate an overwhelming stack of written testimony to be presented to the HJC for the hearing on 3/4/13.

    The Plan:
Step 1: Pick a bill on the 3/4/13 agenda (list below) and commit to generating a sample written testimony.
Step 2: Post which bill you plan to "foster" here ( I will note who's signed up for what next to the bill number in this OP). Hopefully we can get every bill covered.
Step 3: Generate your write up on the bill and post here before Monday 3/3, 5 p.m. for others to use.
Step 4: EVERYONE (regardless of whether you wrote one or not...) edit to your personal style/wording, add to it, change it as you see fit and submit as yours. If all goes according to plan, the HJC will receive hundreds (thousands would be awesome!) of written testimonies for each bill through a shared labor effort.

Two options for submitting your writeups:

** Option 1: The staff in Delegate Smigiel's office have graciously offered to make copies and have them submitted to the HJC. To exercise this option...email the write up no later than 9 a.m. on Tuesday, 3/4in a PDF or Word document attachment to:

    Email address: michael.smigiel@house.state.md.us
    Subject: *HBXXX Written Testimony
*** fill in the XXX with the bill number ***
**** please be sure to use the same name as it appears on your voter registration card to sign your written testimony and include your voting district ***

** Option 2: Make your own copies and provide them to the committee clerk (next to the House Judiciary Committee Room) with 35 copies 60 minutes prior to the beginning of the hearing.

    **** under construction ***

    Foster a Bill Drive.

Heres the Plan: Pick a bill on the 3/4 agenda (will post list later tonight, commit to generating a sample written testimony and post the bill you plan to foster here. Then post your write up.

Others are free to edit (if they want to).

We need all hands on deck to SEND these letters to the HJC (instructions for sending will be added later) prior to noon on 3/3 to allow copy time.

    Let's kill some trees. :)

    More later.

    42 is taken

    Commit!

    Thanks all

I can submit my testimony for SB729 for HB36.

I can submit my testimony for SB729 for HB36.

Can you post your write up as an attachment here for others to either duplicate or edit to suit them.

If we can get as many folks as possible sending their write ups to the HJC, it'll make quite an impressive stack. :)

I'll go for HB 115, that has got to be one of the stupidest wastes of money I've ever heard of. Let's study adding half a pound to every gun, keeping those batteries charges then invent safes that aren't Faraday cages.

I'm on 715 (Fired casing). I drafted it at work and will post it tomorrow.

I also need to pick at least one more.

    Great idea!

You can remove your list since its in the OP now.

Let me know if any info up there needs correction and I will edit to match your input. Thanks.

Just keep the bills updated with who may be providing testimony and then maybe a link to the post that has the testimony when it is posted.

Looks like Hodgepodge beat me to it. I'll keep looking. I'll post mine anyway.

And I beat hodgepodge, but the more the merrier, I too will be looking at the rest of the bills since hp appears to have most of HB 715 done.

Multiple folks on any one bill is fine. If we see one that has no testimony, someone can grab it.

The idea is to show up in numbers, or with a pile of written testimony. (And everyone can write a paragraph; or at least "I oppose/support HB XXX. It will help/hurt lawful gun-owners."

For too many years, I think we let MSI and AGC carry all the weight. No more.

I'll do HB 262 and HB1356 . They seem to be substantially , if not totally identical , so the testamony will be similar.

    .

Or have a huge pile of written testimony sitting on the delegates desks when they arrive for the hearing. :).

Even if ya can't be there on 3/4, this provides a way to participate.

    Exactly.
