well, I noticed the RTB M4 barrel was $99 deal of the day ($109 normally) so I pulled the trigger and have parts on order.

Too bad I did not think of this earlier, otherwise I'd have some more projects to do while at home.

I already have a spare stripped Upper and a hand guard
What I ordered:
RTB22LR16M RTB 22LR M4 Barrel On sale for $99.99 (Deal of the day)
https://www.righttobear.com/searchre...rch=RTB22LR16M
RTB-22BA415 RTB 22LR collar
https://www.righttobear.com/searchre...ch=RTB-22BA415
RTB-22BA596 Charging Handle
https://www.righttobear.com/searchre...ch=RTB-22BA596

Shipped today so I'll be putting it together this weekend.
Hard part will be finding a place to shoot it.

Parts came in

Taking the 223 Adapter collar off and then putting the new one on was a piece of cake!
I have the tools to build AR uppers so I put this barrel in and grabbed a spare A2 brake and put it together in about 15 minutes.
I have spare optics to put on it so that is next. I'll just grab a 3-9x rimfire scope and plunk it on to test the accuracy before putting on a relfex, fixed 4x scope or red dot.
If I like this, I"ll put a shorter handguard on it from Joebobs.

I pulled the bullet and powder out of a 22LR and test fired it and it popped the rim primer just fine and ejected.

Oh yea, Spikes Lower procured years ago from 2A sales in Jessup and Geissele SSA trigger.

I got all amped up watching a guy with a pistol build and arm brace with 9" pistol build but I'll take things one step at a time
I have 2 SBR lowers, Can't recall (have to look into it) if the 29" OAL applies to 22LR or not.
One advantage of pistol build and pistol brace is I can shoot it at the Pistol Range of AGC cause its pistol and pistol caliber

Do you need a .22 receiver to build this or will any receiver work?

Any:
My upper and Lower are regular AR multi caliber upper/lowers.
Only thing special is the CMMG Bolt assembly, Magazine and the Barrel.

So, if you had a dedicated 22LR upper assembly (like what I put togeher), here is a MD compliant bolt/magazine kit
https://www.righttobear.com/RTB-Dedi...tb-22afc1d.htm

If you want to use an existing 223 AR upper, you get one of the below:
https://www.righttobear.com/CMMG-dro...-p/22ba6ae.htm
https://www.righttobear.com/CMMG-dro...-p/22ba62f.htm
or the CMMG kit (I had mine ship to store in DE to make a legal purchase)
https://www.cabelas.com/product/CMMG...6.uts?slotId=7

What you might find is that by the time you add the kit, the mags and the upper assembly parts, you are pretty close to a S&W 15-22
Since my purchases were incremental and I already had a stripped upper, handguard, & Brake, I went to the 22LR AR upper route.

What I get out of it is the same weight, feel and Trigger as my ARs I use but cheap shooting ammo to get me and my son shooting offhand work at steel at 100 yards.

Thanks. I have the conversion kit and mags. Looks like I'm going shopping for a barrel and collar assembly.

MELNIC clear your PM file as I got a message saying you are maxed out and it won't let me send anymore.

As for the 45 Colt, 200 will work for me.
