I picked up a used Marlin 1894. It ran fine for a while. Then, a case got stuck. I got the case out, but since then I can't pull the lever all the way down to cycle to action.

Can someone recommend a gunsmith in MD, near DC or Towson, who has experience with lever guns? Not looking for a generalist who can take it apart and try to figure it out, I've already done that and had a buddy who knows more than me try too.

    Where they send me.
Sounds like Marlin rim lock. If you were able to clear it the first time and take it down to that point it may be something you can clear up yourself. Frustrating and time consuming but doable on your own if you're inclined.

Sorry, I don't know a smith to suggest.

It only takes one screw to remove the lever and bolt. Pull the screw at the lever hump and remove the lever, then remove the bolt. You may have a piece of brass stuck in there or maybe the ejector is bent.

I will just advise you that before you leave the gun at the gunsmith, ask them how long it will be and how much they charge. Just know that good chance it will be more $ than you think. I dropped a 22 off at a gunsmith last fall and told them EXACTLY what was to be done (shorten and thread muzzle) and they told me 2 months and $80. It was $200 and I should have just left the gun there. Gunsmiths are in high demand and the prices and lead times can reflect that. I know you said you already tried but Me, I would go ahead and pull it apart and take pics and keep plugging the MDS mind trust for advice. But that is me.

    Good luck.
