IX-3, thanks for the info. I was looking if they made a holster for the pistol light. Kind of like holding it until you need to attach it. My reasoning is if you need to pull your pistol, you don't need the light, the threat is on you. If you are investigating an area, you can attach it from cover.

Fun times. I don't like the idea of purposely removing an ability with the plan of restoring it when the luxury of time exists. Its similar to carrying with an empty chamber and assuming you'll have time to rack the slide in my mind. If you're going to carry a wml, it may as well be mounted to the weapon so you have the capability to gather visual information and/or restrict the threat's visual information.

True, but from a draw standpoint, I am not well versed on the subject, but I would think a non-lighted pistol would clear faster than a lighted model. I was also thinking from a bulkiness standpoint when carrying it. My understanding of ccw versus home defense is that ccw is immediate, whereas home defense is not necessarily (although it could be) immediate. If in home defense mode, the light would be attached. CCW, I would think the light is not critical when you are pulling it in defense (I do not have a CCW, so I am not an expert or experienced). It would be debatable from my current understanding. You do have a point of, if it is already mounted, leave it alone, and use it as it is.

Q
Never heard of the setup you are describing, a WML is either on or off the weapon. I like having a light/laser combo. On my HD pistol (Glock 22C with GTL 22), CCW (Glock 43 with Streamlight TLR-6).
