A friend of mine is building his first AR. He is looking for a scope with illuminated reticule that will not break the bank. He would like a 3 X 9 power but will consider others. Any recommendations? Thanks
After doing a ton of research and reading various reviews, I put a UTG / Leapers 4-16 X 44 on my Colt AR. I like it a lot. I paid about 130, but I had to get some high profile rings. It comes with the medium rings. It's not a Leupold, but it suits my needs just fine for punching holes in paper @ 200 yards

No. Sorry did not pay attention on illuminated reticle requirement.Do the P223's have an illuminated reticule?

If he can do without the illumination vortex has some very nice scopes for reasonable prices.
Because he plays video games...He is pig headed. He wants the illumination even though he can't tell me why.
Thread Hijack in progress....
I just bought an ar15 Radical Firearms upper to mate with a pre-10/13 lower and I am looking to add some decent glass to it.
Purpose is hunting and/or paper punching. My focus is eye relief, clarity and light transmission, also the more magnification the better (getting old and blind).
I am looking to spend $300-$400. Ideally I would like recommendations for the biggest "bang for the buck" in this price range.
Thanks!
Rob.
