I took my 4 year old and 3 year old boys to the range to shoot their Savage Rascal .22 caliber rim fire on Tuesday. They did incredibly well. This was my 4 year olds 2nd trip, and my 3 year old’s 1st trip. They were killing clay targets at 7 yards and then we moved on to shooting paper targets so I could see just how good they were really doing. I was impressed. As you can see the 3 year old “Nicholas” hit the bullseye (He was so pumped) and the 4 year old (JJ) had better grouping. All in all they did great, especially for their age IMO. And they followed all safety rules, and started reminding me of the rules as we went.
This outing made me think about the B.B. gun I got them. We hardly shoot it much, mostly because I don’t have a ton of spare time. My thought though was to make something in my basement for them where it can stay set up. Then it would be as simple as walking downstairs to shoot. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to build a decent trap? And also I’d like to have fun stuff for them to shoot other than paper. Any thoughts on what to shoot that could make noise or fall down, while still being safe?
