I finally got around to getting Crimson Trace grips for my RIA Compact, put them on last night and can't hardly wait to get to the range to try them out. I did think it is a little funny that they include 2 small (barely readable) sticker to put on the gun warning about the laser. I would be more worried about the .45 acp JHP rather than the laser.

    Congrats.

Note: Do not depend on the laser for sighting on the RIA, until you have some spring work done.

The RIA Officers model, I have tends to be a little too snappy.

    YMMV

The compact is the commander size, not officers size.

    What kind of spring work?

RIAs tend to have a weak recoil spring, among the common complaints.

There is a huge difference between my Colt New Agent, and RIA officers model. It's like night and day.

I threw my stickers in the garbage. They're included to prevent lawsuits from morons who look into the laser to see how bright it is. :sad20:

Personally if someone is looking at my laser he's seconds away from termination.

Finally got around to ordering the recalibration pack from wolff.

    http://www.gunsprings.com/Semi-Auto Pistols/COLT/OFFICERS MODEL/cID1/mID1/dID69

13201 COLT OFFICER RECOIL CALIB PAK will fit the RIA officers model. Total cost to my mailbox: $28.98

Officers Factory Guide Rod Pak: For Use in:
Colt Officers .45ACP with factory guide rod

The pak contains 1 each of 18.5, 20, 22, & 24 Lb. recoil springs. 3 extra power firing pin springs are also included.

COLT OFFICER RECOIL CALIB PAK result.

the 24 lb recoil spring is too stiff for me, I have to fight the slide release.

The 22 lb recoil spring is the ticket, manageable slde release, smoother recoil than the factory spring.

Also replaced the firing pin spring since Wolff sent them in the Calib pack.

All in all, the RIA officers model shoots nicely now, way better than out of the box. Even comparing the RIA to a factory Colt. The RIA doesn't beat the Colt out, but comes close.
