"The Second Amendment also responded to the concern, particularly among the Anti-Federalists, that a standing federal army could raise the specter of tyranny. If the entire populace were armed, a federal army would be unlikely to pose a threat."

We, the populace, have a lot of catching up to do.

I posted this in the "nukes" thread but has relevance here also for
Some reassurance that we don't have that much catching up.. :)

google is your friend, I am not.
    Really? Source?

There were some emails released I think by Booker where Kavanaugh pushed Yoo for the 9th circuit vacancy.

Yoo checks all the conservative boxes. Former DOJ, originalist, etc. The main obstacle would be his memos authorizing the use of torture and waterboarding, which were... controversial.

With 53 in the Senate, my guess is any federal job would be his if he wants it. Of course if he got on the 9th, the would be a massive **** you to the circuit, to Senators Feinswine and Harris.

Of course, you will have to take your pick which one of the amendments you prefer enforced. He is a strong supporter of the bill of rights including the 2nd amendment, but also of the opinion that birthright citizenship is well settled law: http://www.aei.org/publication/settled-law-birthright-citizenship-and-the-14th-amendment/
