I just was given a EIG model E15 SA 22LR manufactured by Herbert Schmidt. It appears to be in good condition. Timing, gap and cylinder show nothing of concern.

Is it worth/safe to even shoot it as a cheap plinker. From my quick goggle fu it has no real value and was cheap to begin with.

    thanks

From what I can find, it's on a par with Hawes, Great Western, et al German single actions, meaning it's probably fine and would make a good, cheap plinker. Bob's Gun Parts lists parts for it.

Wikipedia's entry (yeah, yeah, I know, but it can't be all bad) Herbert Schmidt Ostheim says they're overproofed and the quality is "astonishingly good".

Let me know if you decide to sell it.

no, horribly unsafe, give me your address and I shall come over to dispose of it properly. make no eye contact with it, and do no research on any positive qualities on it. they are just there to fool you.
