    Good info here:

You are looking at about a 3dB difference between the Razor and the Surge. The advantage of the Razor is less back pressure and smaller and lighter. Perfect for a gun that you want to move around with.

    Some good reviews here:

Rugged has also just come out with the Micro30 that is like the Razor in the long config and about 5" long in short config. That is more like the Sandman-K. Personally, I like my Surge and Razor but am looking at the Micro30 as well since I can basically use it as another Razor.

TwangBang has a good review of the Micro30:

So is the Razor decently quiet with supersonics in your opinion? Ive only ever shot a YHM Phantom with 5.56 and it sounded like a .22lr unsuppressed. I dont expect a lot, but I hope for it to sound somewhat close to that.

With subs I assume it still would be pretty darn quiet right?

I am planning on using it on 5.56 to cut down the noise and eventually a 300blk pistol. I primarly will run super on everything, and I just want supersonic fairly quiet like a .22lr and subsonic to be really quiet like I hear people talk about.

I watched tons of decibel tests, but Id like to hear advice from someone who actually knows what they sound like in person.

I have shot my Razor without hearing protection just to check it out. Loud but not painful. Now forgetting to put my ears in after removing the can, that was painful. I have never shot subsonics, just 5.56, everything from 50 grain to 77 grain. My bolt action is quietest since there is no noise from the action. AR and Tavor are louder. I like the Razor even if it is a little louder since it reduces the backpressure and gas to the face when mounted on my Tavor.

So would you say it's going to be similar to a .22lr unsuppressed...maybe a little louder? I'm just trying to get a reference of just how loud.

The tests I've seen show the Razor and Surge seem to be pretty close EXCEPT when shooting larger like .308 or 6.5CM etc., but I think I'm not so worried about maximum suppresson on my bolt gun.

Also, since I found out about the Rugged Micro 30 I don't see the point in buying the Razor.

The Micro30 has just been released. I am looking at a Micro30 as one of next purchases.

I have not shot my Razor and a .22LR back to back so cannot say how they compare. If you were closer to me, I would invite you to come check out the Razor.

if cost is an issue then that deal that Dead Air has on the sandman-K's right now is hard to pass up!

But the Sandman K has no ability to add a module to make it quieter like the Micro30.

If I had to buy today, I would buy a Rugged Surge and a Micro30. But I do like my Surge and Razor. The tough part about being suppressors is that something better always seems to be released while you are in the long wait for the Form 4.

I finally paid for a Micro 30. It was on sale slightly cheaper than the Razor.

See you all in the NFA wait times thread.

I think I might be getting in line behind you for a Micro 30. Silencer Shop's price is good and the form factor is really attractive.

Yeah I definitely bought one of these last night. Dang Silencer Shop makes it easier than buying a gun online. Need to call my credit card company and tell them to block all transactions from that website.

I really don't foresee myself needing the micro version but the price is roughly the same for the Razor which is the same size but not modular so I figured why not?

I guess I could use the 5" in some situations where I'm not even worried much about noise, such as a rifle course or at a loud range.
