Has anyone come out with a semi-auto 5.56x45 centerfire rifle in the past five years that didn't?

Next frontier is gonna be coming up with a semi-auto that takes AI-style mags so you can shoot long COAL ammo in something other than a bolt gun.

Plenty of rifles not on the list. This appear to all be semi-autos.

Others as examples, Mossberg MPV in .223 takes AR-15 mags and Ruger now makes a stock that takes an adapter for AR-15 mags for the Ruger American.

There is a much smaller list of rifles that take AR mags that are still legal in MD, but still quite a few options.

The CZ Bren is a recent standout IMO. A poor man's SCAR (though still expensive).

I love having rifles other than the AR that take the same mags but it's REALLY HARD to justify investing in other platforms because of how damn cheap and accessorizable the venerable AR is. A decade ago a good AR was $1000+ but they just keep getting cheaper.

Mini 14 will take ar15 mags, but they are not reliable with them. Turn mine into a jam-o-matic

the 10 rounder standard mini-14 mags are highly problematic too. Something about Bad Lips.

how did you get them to fit?

My issue as well. Maybe if I had a fair amount more money, or didn’t have kids to spend the money on, it might be different.

But I can buy or build a really nice AR-15 for $800 or well less. A SCAR...let me spend 3x as much on something that doesn’t get the job done much better (if better) that is also easy to get exactly where I want it and for also cheap.

The Bren is the closest to another semi-auto platform in 5.56 that gives me real interest (because kind of SCAR-like, but half the price).

    MVP is on the list...

    Still a bad idea though.

Unless I missed it on this stellar list I would add

Czechpoint VZ58 5.56 Might have missed the Taiwanese T91 as well. Nope he got the T91.

Zastava M90NP can be added to that list, not by OP’s standards but mine takes any mag that my Windham HBC does. Even the Hexmag bolt hold open ones work.

Czechpoint VZ58 5.56 is that MD legal??

    100% got mine from Duffys.

VZ58 is one of the best options for 7.62*39 the 5.56 guns have not been as popular but are out there.

Heck a VZ58 with a "fixed mag" is even CA legal. Pretty cool as you can just load it via stripper clips from the top like an SKS. Not sure if you can do that with the 5.56 model.

Czech's are crazy that way, keep options open.

    rooftop_korean_D6A0513web.jpg

When I get my storage situation improved I am going to get another 7.62*39 in different furniture.
