The tornado crossed the western shore of Kent Island moving east, hit Bay City hard ,wrecked part of a townhouse community near Kent Manor Inn and then veered north across Route 50 where I found chewed trees and downed billboards.

Multiple news choppers overhead for the 5 o'clock live shots.

Headed to the townhouse community to see that major damage. Power could be out for awhile.

If you are on Kent Island and need help, post up! I have another small generator ready to bring you back some power.

There was a lot of devastation and power line damage over there. I happened to be on my way to Wye Mills early in the morning to fish with a buddy. You could see all the tree damage along Rte 50, in some cases, the right westbound lane was cut off by downed trees along the side, tried to stop at McD's for my early morning bite before fishing, dark.. no power. BK had power just up the road, but they weren't serving yet, only 7-11 was open.

While we were out, his wife sent us a bunch of pics of damage, she works closely with EMS over there. They have a few families that were friends whose houses were damaged severely. Roof gone on one, whole back of another one ripped apart. It was bad for sure. They were near Cox Creek, behind the Cracker Barrel. Many power line poles (the heavy duty steel ones!) were down or leaning severely as I came back around noontime in that area.

Prayers for all that took the brunt of it!!

According to NBC4, the tornado was only on the ground for 4 minutes and travelled 2 miles. So much destruction in so little time, it's amazing that nobody was killed. I've been in the middle of an F0 tornado and it's not something I ever want to do again.

This is the townhouse complex just across the road and farm field from the monster tree that came down.

The roof on the ground is part of a yet-to-be completed section of the Ellendale complex.

Proof that this steel sign was damaged by a tornado is that the sign points in the direction the storm came from. If it had been a Derecho system the sign would be 180 degrees from its position now.

Sections near this damaged section are basically untouched except for an occasional siding panel missing.

Focused damage in the top picture while just a few hundred feet away, just one panel of siding gone.

Here's the major transmission line damage on the north side of Route 50 between Route 8 (near the Bay Bridge) and 2.5 miles down to Castle Harbor Marina Road.

Linemen tell me a few thousand homes will be brought back tonight but that there is major damage here on Rt 18 (Main Street) that will take another 24-48 hours.

Thanks for the pictures Jeff. Every time I see another new picture, I am amazed that there were no deaths.

    God is good!

Here's the major transmission line damage on the north side of Route 69 between Route 9 (near the Bay Bridge) and 2.5 miles down to Castle Harbor Marina Road.
9 & 69????? 8 (Romancoke Road) & 18 (Main Street) Maybe? Rt. 18 runs on the north side of 50 from Rt.8 through the circle with Castle Marina near the McDs. Then crosses over Rt. 50 and parallels Rt.50 on the south side over Kent Narrows.

Thanks for the pictures!! I'm concerned about friends along Rt. 8 in Bay City.

Wife and son headed over to man the AACo. Mobile Comms unit tomorrow.

The big 300 year old tree that was blown over is the focus for the media, but the real Ground Zero for the damage is this stretch of power lines just north of Route 50.

This hits me pretty hard. I know exactly where that small destroyed rancher was. In the 80's the people who lived there had a dog that would bark at kids on their bikes. One of my best friends grew up less than 100 yards from there. Her parents still live there. Many of those big houses are new. They will built since I moved out in 1995, in some cases replacing the three bedroom pre-fabricated ranchers that my friends and and I grew up in. This is rough to see, but I appreciate the pics and video...
