This has been in my family for a while and don't really know that much about it. It is 32 s&w and I believe it to be a 1st model. Is this correct?

"Lemon Squeezer" ... the barrel looks interesting. Is it octagonal? Not my field of expertise, but I'm sure someone will chime in.

not octagonal it just has a rib running on the top. I was very surprised at how thin the barrel looks. Is there any way to date these things?

If no one jumps in here, go over the Smith and Wesson forums. Lots of expertise there as well.

BTW, nice gun. I love the old Smiths

thanks to August1410 he put me in the ballpark of the mid 1930's. I need to find some ammo to put through her again. The sights are horrible and the double action is extremely long and heavy but a very fun pistol to shoot!
