Need some front sight work on an old S&W Model 13.

    Any suggestions about a reliable
local smith? Prefer to support our
    local talent.

Curtis Miller (Precision Gun Works) can do pretty much anything. Assume he's still operating. Haven't been there in ages, which makes me a d!ck I guess, cause he's a really cool dude and only a couple of miles from me ... :o

No complaints from me and never heard any from others either. Call first ... bring dog treats.

Well, I just picked up this old 13-4 for
use as a bang-around house gun
(Used to carry a 13-3 on the job
    decades ago)...or,
rather I will, soon...gotta do the 77 paperwork and waiting period...the
front sight seems loose and appears
to be separating from the barrel...figure
on getting that fixed and getting the
    guts tuned up.

Nanjimoy is a hike as I am in Calvert
County, but with a solid reputation like
Mr. Miller seems to have, it is worth the drive since my wife's family is from there
and we can kill a couple of birds, so to
    speak.

    Thanks, guys!

13-4, fixed sight if I'm not mistaken?

If so, could you post a pic of the front sight? I'm curious to see what's going on there.

Inkd, am trying to post a picture...
so far, that task has proven to be
    beyond my limited capabilities.
Still trying to figure out what I am
    doing wrong.

If the picture is on your computer, drop down below where you're typing your message to where it says "Additional Options", then click on "manage attachments". Another window will pop up and you can browse your computer for the picture or if you have it uploaded to a site like Flicker you can just enter the URL then upload.

If the picture is too big it will fail to upload, with message "This site can't be reached" (at least for me).
Not sure what the size limit truly is (the "posted" size in the manage attachments window isn't accurate).
I size mine to be 1250 pixels wide and that always seems to work.
The "Paint" application is the easiest tool to use to resize things.

    Guys...sorry, but no luck.

Took another picture today in case the problem was in the image...but, no difference.

Hitwtom, I assumed you were talking
about going below this box into
which I am now typing this reply...but
I do not see anything marked
    "Additional Options".
    It HAS to be me...?
By way of a description, the rear end
of the front sight has about a 1/16"
gap between its bottom side and
the barrel. The blade itself looks like it
took a good whack on the front end
at some point, so, I am thinking
    the sight was driven rearward
and out of the channel for about 1/4".
I can run an flat toothpick between the
rearward protruding bottom of the sight, and the barrel.

She is no safe queen for sure...just the
kind of gun I can handle without
    fear of marring.

BTW, the Fed and State online
    paperwork was a new
experience for me, as I hadn't bought
a handgun in Maryland in about 10
    years...answered more questions than
when I applied for my TS clearance!!!

Sounds like you're using the quick reply box at the bottom of the message page. Try clicking on "Post Reply", it should open the entire posting window.

    Hitwtom...Right! Thanks.

That brought up the screen to which I think you were referring. Will run down
    that rabbit hole right now.

So I get to the screen that says Manage Attachments. I click on that, then click on use file from computer, choose existing photo, and hit
upload...it shows the photo as an attachment! Yeay!

But, then I cannot get that window
to close so I can get back to the
    reply and send.
    "I am so very lost!"

After you upload, do you not have the 'X' in the top right corner?

KevinK...when I go through the routine,
I can get the image attached, as noted
on the screen, neither "Close This
Window" button work, but when I
click on the X to close Management
    Attachments, it does close the
window, but also takes me out
    of the MDS site, completely.

When you have the 'Manage Attachments' window open, can you left click and hold on the top of the window and move that window around separate from the main MDShooters window? If yes, the top right X of the 'Manage Attachments' window should close. If you can't move it around, maybe it's your browser.

If you can move it and the X closes MDShooters in its entirety, then 'Chupacabra'.
