Better late than never they say.
A native Marylander, and into my 6th decade now, I come from a family that didn't hunt or fish, or that has a military presence. My dad was a musician (as were my two brothers), so his favorite piece in his "arsenal" was a flugelhorn.
Brother #1: medical discharge from the Navy 1966.
Brother #2: Vietnam veteran, 1st Lieutenant, Army, 1966-70. PTSD. Social outcast.
Me: high draft lottery number in 1970, no military service.
Brother #1 sees handwriting on the wall, and leaves MD 20+ years ago for Colorado. There he becomes a gunsmith, and has been after me for years to arm myself. I've always resisted his recommendation, but I've had my eyes open to what is going on around us. I'm preaching to the choir to tell you, it ain't good!
So I'm here now because the time has come, as I approach my 64th birthday, to do what the 2A allows. It's time for me to prepare for the worst as we hope it never comes. I come to MDS, perhaps more as an observer than a contributor, to gather what I can from your experiences and knowledge. I'm happy to be a part of the group.
