I remember around 1990 I had to write a check to PAY for my background check for the first pistol I bought.

At least the background checks are free now.

What do you think that the $10, that we have to pay now with each 77R, is supposed to be for.

If you look at your receipt , you will usually see a line for $10 MSP fee , but I suppose an FFL could raise the price $10, and then offer the background check for "free" .

I believe the Baltimore birdcage liner even allowed guns For Sale in their classifieds.
    No handgun roster or board.
Baltimore had more people but less murder.

I worked for someone else in the gun business in the early 80's.
Back then when you did the paperwork for a handgun you didn't HAVE TO have the serial number on it until it went back to MPS after it was picked up.(This way you could order something and wait for it while the paperwork was being processed) When a customer picked up a handgun, he or she could add up to four more AT THAT TIME and walk out with all five. One more simple form to fill out with the model and serial number of each.
