Good triple thread post (not knocking you I’m being serious)

    That’s a good deal!

Doesn’t matter for a range gun but why did bear creek do the 1:16 twist?

Yea, never have done that but got real excited about the deal  and wanted to spread the word near and far

Don't know about the twist but maybe this deal is to test the market?

PF940CL got announced at SHOT earlier this year. I'll probably build one for fun.

Speaking of which, update on my PF940v2: Poly80 finally got me my new locking block. I was really skeptical it was going to do anything, but it turns out that it fits MUCH better, and the slide movement is absolutely perfect with it.

So, let this be a lesson to everyone else: if you're having a lot of trouble with slide fit, it may not be a problem with what you did... it could very well be that the locking block or rear rails were out of spec.

Yeah, the PF940CL is the "holy grail for carry" frame (G17 slide on G19 grip) that everyone claims they want. I am personally a little skeptical that the extra half inch of sight radius makes any significant difference vs a G19, but the Internet wants what it wants. I personally think the 19X (17K?) paradigm is more interesting, but I also don't carry IWB.

Another problem I'm running into with the Poly80 frames is that they're not USPSA legal, so I can't run my Fauxland Special in carry optics. On the other hand, it does seem to be legal in IDPA, so I'll be using it there when my holster comes in. Unfortunately, I think a G34 MOS may be in my future whether I like it or not... :P

Since those of you posting in this forum have built 80% glocks I figured this would be a good place for my question.

I am thinking about starting in pistol competitions and it looks like a glock 34 is a pretty typical competition gun. I’ve also got the build itch again and am thinking I can kill two birds with one stone. Would you guys recommend a particular 80% frame for this purpose, avoid an 80% frame all together for a competition build, just buy an actual G34, or avoid glock all together and get some other manufactured like say CZ or Sig? I’m sure the final part of the question is personal preference.

    Thanks!

If you are going to compete, you should absolutely NOT go the 80% frame route, because as per my comment right above yours, you will not be able to shoot it in many competitions.

As for what pistol, that's a question you should put into a post in the competition section of the forum, because it's real complex to answer.

Sorry I didn’t catch the part where it’s not uspsa legal. I’m between trying USPSA, IDPA, and the club I’m a member of has basically just bullseye matches. They do accuracy at different distances and for that a 1911 may be my best choice.

Off the top of my head, I think you can shoot a P80 frame in IDPA ESP, IDPA carry optics, IDPA CCP, IDPA BUG, USPSA Limited, and USPSA Open. You kinda get screwed in USPSA because USPSA carry optics is an extension of Production, not Limited, and you are not going to be competitive with a 9mm in Limited or Open, never mind the other shortcomings you'll have with the platform.

OTOH, you'll probably be fine for quite a while in IDPA with one, so that's something... but whether you'll want to only shoot IDPA is maybe a better question.

My latest creation... PF940SC with Storm Lake extended G26 barrel, Primary Machine comp, and Crimson Trace CMR-205 light/laser. I'll add an RMR or HS507C when funds become available. Frame and slide are all Glock parts otherwise (dot connector). No idea how it runs, just got it finished tonight.

I will say that the recoil spring guide rod channel on these frames is TIGHT due to the diameter of the rod. You really have to mill it all the way to where the locking block is... it took me a couple tries.

I also noticed that the "pull trigger too hard and connector moves out of the way" problem seems to be fixed on these frames! In theory, you should be safer using LWD parts on these frames.
