Angry SB1036 -- Serious restrictions on transportation of "assault rifles"?

http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/2018RS/bills/sb/sb1036f.pdf

This looks like it makes it illegal to transport assault weapons in the state of maryland?

This does not mean what you think it does.

This spells out when someone convicted of a disqualifying crime must transfer thier firearms to a FFL or a law enforcement agency. And how to provide proof you have complied.

I believe it requires transfer of regulated firearms to an FFL or private party within two days of conviction for a domestic violence charge. You lose your 2A rights, and have to dispose of all firearms, and prove to the Court that you have done so within five days after the conviction.

How do you prove you don't have any more guns?
No way to prove a negative.

In general, MSP has no problem asking you to prove a negative. I wouldn't out it past the MGA.

There you go, applying logic to Maryland gun laws again.

Besides, Maryland is now the only state in the world that still follows the Napoleonic code. where you have to prove you're innocent, not the other way around, since the French finally gave up on it.

This is the Bill Deb Rey was talking about and the "woman" from everytown was telling her she needs to support

Per Deb Rey law states today if you are convicted of DV you cant be released till the firearms are transferred this bill will give you two days. This law seems like a disaster waiting to happen

I hope they don't require me to prove that there are no underwear gnomes in my closet.
