First service rifle match. Thank you AAF&G regulars for welcoming a noobe. The Swiss Miss was spot on @100 yds right out of the box. 68 years-old and it’ll shoot way better than me.

    Looking forward to next month.

Had a few out to the range myself today. Wind was pretty strong but otherwise not so cold.
    Two No 4's I barrelled and re-stocked / fitted out,freshened up some.
First time shooting obsolete milsurp since the end of summer before hunting.

Long Branch may have some promise If I can better my part.

Savage is right there with it, but new PH mag box needs minor fitting so no good from the ground yet.
First time I shot them, other than to test fire- measure brass.

I dont know if Ill ever get to them again, it may be awhile. I might clone T the Savage this summer maybe for a project.

Tell me about that stock. New or refurb?

They're both Mk 2 stocks (beech) new, but I oak patched them and turned them into No 4 stocks/ installed tie plate.
Mk 2 wood is not joined together at the rear, it looks like a fork and has a stock bolt that goes through wood at rear to hold them together to front of that socket.
They added a trigger to a gusset instead of it being attached to the trigger guard and separating with it like a No4.
Its a better system but a No 4 stock will not fit a Mk 2 body without that fork.
Mk 2 rifles have better/more consistent pull off becuase the trigger is attached to the action/body. I dont have any of them.

No 4 fore-ends are hard to find anymore, but Mk 2 stuff can be found yet.
It's all NOS stuff from the net except barrels-action bodies and small parts for the most part.

A better shot would cream themselves over shooting these, I cant see anymore hardly unless its the refrigerator door handle or a giant roast beef that cant get away.
Target is from prone, no jacket or glove today. Key change at clubhouse-windy as all hell-whew!

Couple errors there but not bad. Gusty north wind
but 50 deg maybe and sunny.

I had a chance to try out a 22 cal Kel tech pistol. I think it held nearly a small box of 22 round nose. Some kind of hologram sight on it. Pretty nifty at 50 it was. First target butt on right in pictures is where I was shooting at broken clay bits.

Another club member had a Pedersoli rolling block with LR rear tang and globe front on it. That seemed like something I could get used to. It was sharp to look at and shot great too. The guy said he had loaded it down some for plinking.
