After getting out of the US Army in 68, I needed a deer rifle and a good friend sold me a Savage, 99F in .308. Even though I have acquired many rifles since, that rifle has become my all-time favorite. The action is smooth, probably from wear, and has taken countless deer. I also use it on bear hunts, never a problem. If I could keep only one rifle, it would be the Savage 99F.

The lever actions are great deer rifles, short barrels for getting through the brush, they pack a good punch, and are light weight. Add a scope and it's even better.

See Joppas auction above...that's a good deal there.:)

Just ordered (hope the vendor comes through they say they can get it and its cataloged but I haven seen one in a long while) a Rossi 92 in .454 casull (should take .45 as well), 16" stainless. I know some of you guys have had bad experiences with the brazilian wonders by my .357 92 has been pretty good after a few minor tweeks.

It wont match my Winnies or Marlins but will make a good truck gun as long as I can make it 100% reliable.

Sounds great Jimbob2.0, one of my levers is at least 90 or so.

Damn, didn't know there was a lever-gun porn thread too..., sweet.

My one and only for right now, early '70's Marlin 336 in .30-30, slightly updated 4x16 glass and mounts (new mount not in pic).

I'm surprised no-one has suppressed a lever gun yet :)

Calling Red Jacket, Calling Red Jacket!!! :lol2:

Think Mossberg's tacti-cooled lever-gun would be the ideal abortion - sorry, candidate - for that job. :D

I guess you could but I would think the action would be noisy compared to a bolt.

A while back on GB I found an early Winchester 94 with a special order stainless barrel and threaded for something. Backed by a letter from Winchester. To expensive for my blood but I suspect suppressor.

P.S. Cant wait to compare notes with the Savage 1899 folks, its a beauty and a takedown (what I wanted)!
