But why let facts get in the way of a bad lie?

Let's face it. Anti's are still spouting numbers disowned by their authors decades ago.

Luxembourg has around 550K people. The author citing it has nine times the murder rate of Germany, I honestly hope readers are smarter than that. Where is the data, what years. It had to be a years cherry picked where perhaps an out of ordinary situation occurred. In 2014 Luxembourg murder rate was 0.72 per 100k. Germany 0.85 in year 2015, USA 4.88 and Russia same year 11.31. Some of the Islands in Caribbean come to rates at over 30. If we look at the murder rate by city. St. Louis ranks in at 60 and Baltimore over 50.

Analysis of numbers to support either side can most the time just be tossed in the garbage. When I see the argument of Luxembourg, I can't really take the analysis as anything but heavily biased.

I'm not finding anything close to 9 per 100k for Luxembourg from multiple sources. It is such an outlier on that list, and conveniently tied to no gun ownership. The list in the study cites murder statistics from Canadian source. It indeed has Luxembourg on chart at 9.01 in that Canadian source , an error which even now keeps getting used. I'm pretty amazed the authors didn't look at that number with skepticism.

Here is UN stats on Luxembourg https://www.indexmundi.com/facts/luxembourg/homicide-rate
