    Uberti? Cimarron? Henry?

Anyone have any experience and an opinion on which of these companies to go with? Did I miss any options?

    Thanks

Cimarron is an importer. I have an Uberti 1860, 24" barrel, iron receiver, 44-40. I use it for cowboy action shooting. They have three models, 24" barrel with iron receiver, 24" barrel with brass receiver, and 20" barrel with brass receiver and sling studs. New ones run $1400 retail, I got mine "used" for $699. I shoot smokeless and black powder rounds through it, no problems. Lots of good info on Henry replicas here http://www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php/board,80.0.html

I'm not really familiar with the Cimarron line, but I think Uberti actually makes a lot of it. Uberti's work is really exquisite, better even than when they were making the original "Colt" repro percussion revolvers back in the '60s and '70s. Their 1873 is really tempting. You might also have a look at the Taylor's out of Winchester. They sell a great line of old-West style rifles. Their Spencer repro is high up on my list, too. I don't know about the rest of their line, but that one's made by Chiappa.
